When you run conventions, you have to plan for various different contingencies. For 2021, we budgeted for the obvious: Zombies. Dinosaurs run amok. Zombies riding dinosaurs. The usual stuff.
Unfortunately, we didn’t plan for a pandemic–extraterrestrial or otherwise. Build a giant underground research facility, they said. Have you even seen Resident Evil, we said?
In all seriousness, we spent a lot of time soul-searching about whether it was safe to hold COSine in January and, while it is still six months away, there is just too much uncertainty about where things will be, and we decided that it was just not worth the risk to our guests, attendees and staff.
For that reason, with much sadness, we have decided to postpone COSine until 2022.
That said, there is some good news – all of our guests have agreed to come in 2022! Here’s the info:
January 14-16th, 2022
The Hotel Eleganté
Guest of Honor: C.J. Cherryh
Artist Guest of Honor: Jane Fancher
Special Guests: Connie Willis & Courtney Willis
If you have already registered for COSine 2021, we will reach out to you in the next few days. You can either choose to have your registration apply to 2022 or ask for a refund.
COSine Con Com
[Actual Con Com conversation]
Person 1: So, if we are postponing the convention, is it still COSine 2021 even though it is being held in 2022?
Person 2: Doesn’t that require time travel?
Persons 3,4,5: Shut up.
